Sue Muecke

Page history last edited by Sue Muecke 9 years, 10 months ago

Sue Muecke is currently a Ph.D. student in the Literature program at Wayne State University.  She received her BA in English from Drew University and her MA in Shakespeare from Royal Holloway College, University of London.  Her academic interests include Shakespeare (particularly Shakespeare in performance), Margaret Cavendish, and early modern gender and sexual identity.  But don't worry - none of these interests will be making an appearance in this class.

When she's not teaching, writing novel-length papers, or trying to read Early Modern print, Sue enjoys rooting for the New Jersey Devils, watching cancelled sci-fi TV shows, and playing in her band Ballistic Lipstick (even if it is only on Rock Band 2).

don't worry? I guess you're saying that those are things no one would like to hear! I think it's quite interesting that you like Shakespeare. I can never understand his plays when they're spoken in the original text.

Even now, when I'm really comfortable reading and speaking Shakespeare's text, I think of it as something of a foreign language. You do have to learn how to read/hear it. It still takes my brain a moment to adjust to the language every time I deal with one of his works - and I acted in my first Shakespeare play when I was 10!
