1. Poverty and the homeless in Detroit.

2.  Michigan’s government and the Governor

3.  By showing my audiences statistics and facts that the homeless/hungry people in Detroit is obviously a problem.

4.  Poverty in Detroit is affecting the state of Michigan as a whole by making the city more dangerous and unclean by the homeless.

5.  I will propose that the state tries harder to help the homeless by offering free or cheap education and/or to motivate the homeless by giving them a low labor job and for pay give them a warm place to sleep and some food, instead of just allowing them to crowd the city as bums, also to pay them to clean up the city. Although it is the mess the homeless created, low pay would be motivation for them to pick up the city.

6.  Other solutions would be to arrest them, maybe, or to kick them out of the city. A more plausible solution is to create more homeless shelters, but in my opinion that won’t do any good. That is just a temporary fix. We need to help get the homeless an education and a job or they will stay in poverty for the rest of their lives.

7. My solution is very feasible if the government would listen. It would be taking a chance, but it would be better than doing nothing. We would have to use tax payers money to get this proposal going, but I think the benefits of this solution are worth the price.

8. Others will say that the homeless should find ways out of poverty themselves since they are the ones who got themselves into trouble in the first place. Others may hold grudges against the homeless who made bad decisions like doing drugs or other crimes. Others will have doubts that my situation will work because of the past experiences with the homeless.

9.  Sources I will use will consist of online articles that aim directly about Detroit’s homeless problem, websites that have useful statistics, and perhaps some books on homeless or poverty.

1.Cost of living in Detroit

2.people who could exactly improve this problem such as governor

3.statics as far the percentage of foreclosed homes and people that are now on unemployment or just unemployment, high tax rates and even insurance rates.

4.regardless or not if you live in detroit, detroit house the state's popular atractions such as tiger's stadium...if people can't afford living expensives how can businesses and
atractions located in detroit continue to boom

5. increase minium wage...lower property taxes, etc.

6.umpolyment and aid are other solutions, to me it just makes those people more get use to help and they become more lazy and less willing to work

7.this solution is feasible because everyone would benefit, happy citizen, booming city, productive sales, workers to run business, etc

8.the city will loose money, the city is already in debt, however it things were more affordable people would continue to sew into things causing more sales and such

1. What problem will you be solving?
The amount of people who do not have a job in MI
2. Who is your audience? BE SPECIFIC.
My mother becaue as of right now she is unemployed
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
I will talk about the people that are right now without jobs. I will also talk about how it is affecting the lives of people that are unemployed and also the families of people who are unemployed
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
I think it will not be hard to prove my problem to my audiences, my main point is to help my mother come up with a solution.
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
Having the cost of living go down, having people work harder to get a job, the goverment should help people. maybe more student lones can happen so people can go back to school.

Melinda Klakulak said

at 1:15 pm on Nov 2, 2010

6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
My solutions are better becasue it requires work from people without jobs. They should not just get money from the government forever without putting in an effort to find a job.
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
The governement will have a big part in helping with funding. I think the amount of time you should be able to recive unemployment should go down to modivate people. (there are exceptions that if you are trying to better your life you can have extra time)
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
That they don't think lowering the amount of time is fair because after unemployment runs out they will have nothing.
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.
the amount of people that are unemployed, the amount of places looking for people to hire. All jobs are not the dream job and I want to prove to people when there are little jobs out there, you have to take what you can in order to make money for you and your family.

1. What problem will you be solving?
- The problem of obesity in America.
2. Who is your audience? BE SPECIFIC.
- People that are obese, and parents of young children
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
- Too many people are becoming overweight and the overall health of our country is declining.
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
- Obesity is a main cause of death and it seems to be a growing problem especially in young people
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
- For parents to learn to make better choices for kids.
- For people that are obese now, know the problems associated with obesity
- Teach people to learn self-control when it comes to certain foods
6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
- A solution is to just change all the food in schools so kids can learn. The problem is not just in the schools. It has to do with the parents making the bad choices. My solution goes right to the parents.
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
- The ability to teach someone something doesn’t cost anything. Also, families and obese people could save money if they stopped consuming these harmful foods.
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
- I will deal with the opposing arguments with strong evidence and good reliable sources.
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.
- I will need to find journals about obesity and how significant of a problem it is, and also I would need to find books, or journals about how children are a part of this problem as well.

1. What problem will you be solving?
Teenage pregnancy
2. Who is your audience? BE SPECIFIC.
Teens and parents
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
Too many teens are having kids and they can’t take care of them
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
Some teens drop out of school when they're pregnant or want to resort to abortion
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
For teens to have protected sex if you're going to have sex
For parents to teach their teens more about relationships and sex
6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
to not have sex, but it’s obvious that telling a teen not to have sex will not work, so it would be better to give them protection if they decide they want to

Keiona Harris said

7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
It doesn’t cost the parents anything to talk to their teens about their relationships, sex, and pregnancy. The schools may need more money from the government to fund condoms and birth control in order to pass them out to the students that feel they need them.
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
Opposing arguments would be that teens shouldn’t be having sex in the first place; I will deal with this opposition by showing the increase in teens having sex in schools that promote abstinence.
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.
I'll need magazine articles, and journal sources. Maybe even a teen parent.

1. Increasing online time spent by minors

2. My audience is to the U.S. government.

3. People, with minors in specific, are spending an ever-increasing amount of time online. This is hampering their development – more specifically in the social area.

4. The problem is universal, but the only individuals who could implement a concept such as what I will propose would be the government.

5. I propose that we introduce a new concept: the OSN – Online Security Number. This will work similar to one’s social security number (will be given at birth) which uniquely identifies an individual as themselves. This number would be universally integrated into social networks, online forums, subscription-based online gaming, etc. and required to access any online services. The OSN will give a 1 hour per week limit on all online content to those under the age of 18. Once an individual has run out of their 1-hour per week quota, they will be unable to log-in using their OSN; and, should they attempt to use another individual’s OSN, they will be unable to access personal settings, profiles, and accounts that are previously linked with their personal OSN.

Bradley Clark said

at 4:11 pm on Nov 2, 2010

6. There are other solutions such as requiring a credit/debit card to register for online services (indicating the individual is older than 18) and asking parents to be better parents and not allow their children to spend the vast majority of their time online, but my solution is better because a credit / debit card is easily attainable to any minor (by means of their or another individual's parents, or a pre-paid card) and many parents are working hours much longer than their kids are in school – forcing their kids to make the choices for themselves.

7. The solution is feasible. In the same way that social security numbers are distributed and maintained, OSN’s can be. It will have to be phased in due to the fact that it will only be mandatory to new-born children, but adults and minors alike can register for their own OSN as the internet adopts this new concept. It will be paid for and staffed identical to that of the social security numbers. Enforcing this is only possible if the online community comes together to make it a possibility. It will take a joint-effort to make this a reality.

8. The opposing argument may be that it is limiting the amount of time children can spend in a world that is booming and is “the future”. I would respond to this in saying that, while the internet may well be the future, basic life skills that need to be taught in the first 18 years of an individual’s life are being missed – resulting in under-developed children, most specifically in terms of their social skills.

9. I will need to find sources that show the statistics of how children and teens prefer to handle their social lives / interactions in the twenty-first century and the negative impacts of elevated usage of the internet at a young age.

1. What problem will you be solving?
*The negative Ad Campaign advertisment towards opponents that effects the decisions of the voters.
2. Who is your audience?
*American Voters
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
*Explaining that most ad Campaigns(the commercial ads) are always negative towards the opponent and does not actually depict the whole truth and they are not really saying what they can do to make things better.Only criticizing the opponent.
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
*Because my audience are the ones who will vote for these people and do not know what the whole truth is behind the campaign.
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
* The American voters should do their research of the information that is being advertised before themnand make themselves aware of the truth the candidates.

6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
* I do not really think that there are any other solutions that can solve the problem of negativity in the ad Campaigns Candidates.
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
* My solution is pretty simpl, research information for themselvees.
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
*
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.

What problem will you be solving?
adolescence drug use in the middle and upper class

2. Who is your audience? BE SPECIFIC.
parents

3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
Explaining first the signs of drug use, then give examples of drug use that has ended very badly (death, prison, etc.)

4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
Their children are abusing drugs. In some cases, the parents are indirectly supplying money and fueling the drug habits.

5. What solution(s) will you propose?
Parents should pay more attention to their children. Police and government officials should also focus on drug use in middle to upper class communities as well as lower class communities.

6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
The current solution, making drugs illegal, does not work. If it did, young people would not be able to get a hold of the drugs in the first place.

7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
Parents caring about their kids shouldn't have a price. Police in affluent communities, more times than not, give out speeding tickets. If they did their job to its fullest, it shouldn't have extra cost.

8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
Who would oppose to reducing hard drug use?

9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.
Facts, statistics, examples, news reports, etc.

1. What problem will you be solving?
The requirements to enter into a college that you really want to go to
2. Who is your audience? BE SPECIFIC.
All state and universities (colleges) and high school graduates
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem?
By showing them the numbers of how many people aren’t in college at all because of the requirements to get in.
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
That they change the requirements or create programs that students can go into so that they can at least has a chance to attend the college of their choice.
6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
Another solution could be that the kids in high school can do better so that they do meet all the requirements
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition?
The opposing would probably say that it’s not fair that they met the requirements to get into the school of their choice and the students slacked and still go into the college. I would tell them that everybody deserves to start their life over for the second time and get it right.
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? BE SPECIFIC.
Statics and I can interview high school students. Also I can see if there is any scholarly source out there that agrees with me.

1. What problem will you be solving? The effect that the media has on teen pregnancy
2. Who is your audience? Anyone who works in the media and teen mothers.
3. How will you convince your audience that the problem is indeed a problem? That fact that teens that are exposed to sexual content and teen pregnancy through the media are more likely to get pregnant as a teen then those who are not exposed and also from my life, I know a lot more people getting pregnant now then a few years ago.
4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience? My audience are the ones are contributing to this problem and also being affected by it.
5. What solution(s) will you propose? That the media should not be able to glamourize teen pregnancy.
6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those? The American Academy of Pediatrics created a campaign to raise awareness about how the media is influential to younger people and that parents should monitor what their children watch. You cannot just raise awareness about something like this, you need to do something about it to get any results.
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing? It has been proven that the media influences sexual acts, which lead to teen pregnancy, come up with a proposal that makes it illegal to glamorize sexual acts and teen pregnancy through the media.
8. What kinds of opposing arguments could others make in response to your proposal? How will you deal with that opposition? That it is not fair to adults or that it wouldn’t stop teen pregnancy. Also, that the media has a freedom of speech and they should be allowed to show what they want.
9. What kinds of sources will you need to find to support your claims? Facts and statistics, newspaper articles, TV shows and movies.

1.  teenage pregnancy!
2.  teenagers having sex.
3. There have been a lot of teenagers having babies lately. It is a problem because its hard for them to raise babies, they are to young.
4. this problem directly affects my audience because they are the ones who are in danger of having babies as teenagersm
5. I would purpose to make it easier for teens to get contraceptives and I would educate them on it more.
6. As of right now teens here about how hard it is to have babies but they don't really understand how hard it is. Teens can't get contraceptives on their own until they are at least 16.
7. I think if teens realize how hard it is to have a baby then they will take the right steps to prevent it. Parents need to talk with their children about how to get contraceptives.
8. Some may say that lowering the age from 16 to get contraceptives would be way to young but teens are having sex under the age of 16 and they need to be protected too.
9. I would use my own personal experiences and other teenage mothers experiences.

4. How will you demonstrate that it is not just a problem in general, but a problem directly affecting your audience?
Many teenagers text while driving
5. What solution(s) will you propose?
To prevent texting while driving in the first place
6. What other solutions are there, and why is your solution better than those?
New technologies that allow people to avoid physical contact with the phone, if you prevent it in the first place you would not have to worry
7. How will you prove that your proposed solution is feasible? How will we implement, pay for, enforce, etc. what you are proposing?

1.Instant Replay in Baseball

2.Mlb Commissioner and Owners

3. I will go back to many instances that show they need to implement they replay system. They have made many game or even season changing calls that were wrong and I want to show them that if they improve this then they may have more success.
As a Tigers Fan I had to deal with this in the past season with the near perfect game that was taken away on an obvious blown call

4. I will show the commissioner that people are beginning to get upset with the fact that nothing can be reviewed by the officials or even himself.

5. Put instant replay in for homeruns, safe-out calls, catches, and other minor aspects like fair-foul and if the person was on the base.
6.The solution MLB came up with was just having instant replay for homeruns. my solution is better because many people missed calls last year and humans arent perfect.

7. You pay for it with the extra millions and billions of dollars that are just sitting there from revenue. You will have to limit the replays like football to probably 2-3 a game.

8.That the system is fine for homeruns. i would ask them why they wouldnt want to see the right call made instead of the wrong call, it makes the game 10x better.

9.Major league baseball commissioner's statements and other times when a blown call might have changed an entire game.

3. Providing factual evidence on the way the two parties generally sway their votes.
4. Since these politicians are representing us, they are representing our partisanship.
5. Encouraging new voting Americans to remember we are one whole community, and that united we stand divided we fall.
6. Another solution is to dominate the senate and the house of rep. and just force your way. this doesn't work because the next term will potentially change the number of dems and repubs.
7. We simply need to realize our problem, doing so will allow us to begin to change our divided mindset.
8. An opposing argument would state that our partisanship is what makes our country free.
9. Personal experiences/ politically related articles/ Voters views on partisanship.
